Julia Ross, MA

Board of Directors Emeritus

A pioneer in the field of addiction recovery, Julia Ross has founded and directed eight treatment programs in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1980. As director of outpatient programs at the Henry Ohloff House, Ross instituted seven programs in three counties, including the area’s first treatment programs for the addicted family system, for addicted adolescents, and for marijuana and food-addicted individuals. Ross is currently the Executive Director of the Recovery Systems Outpatient Clinic in Marin County (1988 to present). There, she and her staff psychologists, nutritionists and physicians have developed an innovative treatment model combining nutrient therapy and biochemical rebalancing with counseling and 12-step programs.

In 1994 Ross began teaching in the addiction counselor certification programs at both U.C. Berkeley and JFK University. She is the author of The Mood Cure (Penguin2004), a nutritional brain-support manual for mood and addiction problems, and the best-selling The Diet Cure (Penguin 2000) on recovery from carbohydrate addiction. Ross has addressed hundreds of conferences and workshops and has appeared as an expert on dozens of radio and television programs, including an NBC11-TV news special aired throughout the country in 2006.

She presents training seminars for professionals on Amino Acid Therapy for the treatment of chemical dependency, carbohydrate addiction, depression, anxiety, and other neurotransmitter deficiency problems. She also provides private consultation to individual practitioners and to treatment programs and clinics.

Joe Eisele, CACIII, NCAC

Clinical Director, InnerBalance Health Center

Joe Eisele is a nationally certified alcohol and drug therapist with specialized training in intervention techniques from the Johnson Institute. Joe has been treating addictions in the Fort Collins area for over 30 years.

Joe lost the years from age 14 to 34 to drugs and alcohol. His life careened from being jailed for drunkenness as a teen to mental institutions to multiple addiction treatment programs, which led to continual relapsing no matter how sincerely he worked the programs. Depression, anxiety, and insomnia, again and again, drove him back to the bottle. Two Alcoholics Anonymous meetings a day helped but in the end profound recovery happened after he discovered he had low thyroid and adrenal hormones, imbalanced blood sugar, malnourishment, and genetic quirks that required special supplementation for body systems to function normally.

As a result of proper medical testing and interpretation of results, changing his diet, taking needed vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fish oil, and becoming physically fit (including running a marathon), Joe has stayed sober for over thirty years, raised three children, maintained a marriage, and thrived at a job he loves. As Clinical Director at InnerBalance Health Center in Fort Collins, Colorado, he now helps others use biochemical repair to maintain their own recovery.
